What to do near Bed and Bourgogne in winter?

You are not fond of skiing or holidays in the tropics in the middle of winter? Why not take advantage of Burgundy in this case? The Côte Chalonnaise and its landscapes lend themselves perfectly to an authentic weekend in Burgundy. It's a perfect time to discover the places quietly, away from the crowds, peacefully, at your own pace. For you bare vineyards, villages and castles or monuments lit by the sun and / or under the snow. Here are some ideas of things to do/see during your stay at Bed and Bourgogne .

Saint-Vincent is the patron saint of winegrowers, so it is quite normal that in Burgundy, this party is very important. Saint Vincent is celebrated on January 22, so it is during this period that we celebrate in the various wine villages. Thus, walking around the weekend before or after January 22, it will not be uncommon to see a procession and a village festival.
The Saint-Vincent Tournante is of greater renown. It takes place every year on the last weekend of January and changes Burgundian wine village every year (hence its name "tournante"). The village concerned is decorated by its inhabitants, in particular with paper flowers, panels and sketches with characters (with noses reddened by the cold... and the wine).
On the morning of the first day, the "mutual aid societies" of Burgundygather for a snack, before taking part in the parade-procession with the banners of the 85 societies (with the costumes of the brotherhoods and the statues of the saints, those of the host village in the lead, the grand council of the Brotherhood of Knights of the Tastevin en queue), then takes place a ceremony at the War Memorial, a religious service in the parish church, and finally inductions by the brotherhoods.
But it is above all the tasting of the cuvée or cuvées of the Saint-Vincent Tournante that attracts the crowd to different points in the village concerned. It takes place over two days of the weekend.
In 2023, the Saint-Vincent Tournante will take place on January 28 and 29 in the village of Couchey, near Dijon . It's less than an hour's drive from Bed and Bourgogne , so to take a step back from the party at the end of the day, it's the ideal compromise.

Close your eyes and imagine: the sun has just risen, you have enjoyed an excellent breakfast to gain strength and you are already ready to set off on your bike to get to the middle of the vineyards. Well covered, you are about to cover the 25 km of a pretty walk in the middle of the vineyards of the Côte Chalonnaise . You have chosen this hike, because you can rent bikes from Bed and Bourgogne . No need for a car, you are on site, in the heart of the Côte Chalonnaise vineyard .You go through the small roads that lead you to Montagny-lès-Buxy to take the wine trail where the show is superb. The mist extends to the foot of the vines revealing a romantic landscape. The vineyard in winter is just as charming as in other seasons, sometimes under the snow.
On the way, you come across winegrowers who take care of their vines. They prune and burn the useless stems in large braziers. Maybe some will even open their doors to you for a tasting. You can go through Buxy otherwise, make a stop at the cellar of the winegrowers for a few purchases and return to Bed and Burgundy after a beautiful loop that you will remember.
